Library 2.0: Revolution or Evolution?

After reading the review by Kwanya, Stilwell, and Underwood about the professional community's opinion of whether Library 2.0 represents an evolution, revolution, or 'no-lution' of librianship, I tend to side with the 'evolution' camp. I do not think that the essential values of libraries are changing, just the format in which these values are supported. I believe those that are deeming Library 2.0 practices a revolution are intimidated by the speed at which modern libraries are required to evolve. Similar changes have occurred over centuries of library development, they have just not seemed so drastic because the time frame across which they were implemented was extended. In the end, whether we are called libraries or "cybraries," we will still be serving the same functions for our users. It's probably time to stop debating whether the advent of Library 2.0 constitutes a revolution or an evolution and to return our focus to what matters most: our users.
